The Bio-Leadership Project helps people and organisations meet 21st century challenges by drawing inspiration from, and working in partnership with, nature.

The status quo of leadership and human innovation is no longer fit for purpose. The Bio-Leadership Project is about developing new forms of development and change, fit for our times.

Our work is a response to three major trends:

  • The need to shape new ways of living and working in more adaptive, connected and regenerative ways.
  • The need to protect and restore the wider social and ecological systems we are part of.
  • The rising importance of purpose and meaning across life and work.

Our work has grown rapidly over the past two years, and today we are working with pioneering organisations like Patagonia, the World Benchmarking Alliance, Amani Institute and innovators from many other walks of life.

We are developing Bio-Leadership through three areas of work: consultancy, open programmes and research.

Bio-Leadership Three Day Workshop, 18th to 20th October, 2018

This is a 3-day introduction to the approaches we are working with in Bio-Leadership. The workshop is structured around three key threads: 1) Tools, models and stories to support new approaches to leadership and organisation; 2) Practical and experiential aspects of learning to support new qualities for leadership and transformation (presence, awareness, connection and resilience); and 3) How to work as a field to support a new form of work in the world.  The programme is in collaboration with the Quadrangle Trust.

Bio-Leadership Research Hive

A new way of working wants to emerge in the world, inspired by the principles of nature. Our vision is to support and facilitate this emergence by connecting people and organisations who are navigating these uncharted waters, by sharing their amazing stories, and by exploring and supporting new ways to grow this evolution. Find out more about the first phase of our Research Hive work here.

Deep Transformation + Theory U Workshop (new dates for 2019, soon)

Our times will be marked by how we navigate unprecedented complexity. We will be remembered by how we find new forms of purpose and balance across our organisations, society and planet. To do this, perhaps our greatest task will be to face the habits and fears that keep us bound to the things we are trying to change. It is a time of unlearning, and we must create different spaces to help something new to emerge. We believe there is no better space for this than nature. Come and dive into a deeper form of knowing, related to wider models of change such as Theory U.  More information here.

Bio-Empathy & Bio-Leadership in Brazil

Over the past 2 years we have been asked to facilitate a ‘Bio-Empathy’ module for Amani Institute’s outstanding Social Innovation management programme. The Bio-Empathy module, which takes place over four days, helps participants deeply reconnect with Nature while asking questions about how to lead a different kind of change in the world. In March 2019 we will be returning to Sao Paulo to run the 8th cohort of Bio-Empathy.

While working on Bio-Empathy, our work has evolved into a wider set of workshops and programmes in Brazil – first two ‘Leadership inspired by Nature’ workshops, then a deeper ‘train the trainers’ programme and more recently a deeper 3 day introduction to Bio-Leadership. Look out for more programmes in Brazil in 2019.

Bio-Leadership 12 month journey (to launch 2019)

This programme will help a group of people to work with new forms of leadership and innovation with nature as a source of inspiration and partner. The programme has been in continuos development over some time, and from 2019 we will launch a first pilot process. The journey will bring  blend content, action-research and coaching. Please get in touch to express early interest
