The Bio-Leadership Project helps people and organisations meet 21st Century challenges by drawing inspiration from, and working in partnership with, Nature.

The Bio-Leadership Project is a response to three big trends:

The search for meaning.

The need to address global challenges and opportunities
in smarter and more connected ways.

The need to restore and rebalance our relationships
with natural systems.

Too many of our everyday systems and organisational models hold us back from doing these things well. However, Nature is a perfect partner in finding new ways to transform and organise our human systems, from businesses to cities to schools.

Our aim is to help to do this, bringing together people from leadership, innovation, design, ecology, research and sustainability to do so.

Our vision is to make profound changes to how we grow as human systems, in order to meet the greatest challenges and opportunities of the 21st Century.

As we launch in 2016, we are working on consultancy,
research and development programmes.

Bio-Leadership Practitioners Programme

The Bio-Leadership Practitioners Programme is a six month journey to help a group of practitioners shape new ways of working on leadership and change, inspired by Nature. The programme has emerged through a growing interest in our work with Bio-Leadership, itself unfolding as the world seeks more systemic and meaningful forms of development. Not least, this is happening at a time when we must critically address the way we organise ourselves to realign with, regenerate and protect our wider systems. Through the programme, blending Bio-Leadership content from a range of sources, collaborative action-research and different forms of peer and one-to-one coaching, the aim is to work with a group of inspired, nature-connected practitioners to shape a whole new way of doing things for the 21st Century. To find out more please click here. Places are open for the programme and we are excited that this will be a catalyst for other collaborative initiatives and opportunities.

Leadership on the edge of Living Systems: Research and Learning Programme

Leadership on the edge of Living Systems is a research programme aiming to help organisations become more adaptive and better connected by working more as living systems. Through the work we will interview leaders who are operating on ‘the edge’ of living systems, we will interview thought leaders and ‘pioneers’ bringing living systems approaches into the world and we host spaces to work learn and work with emerging ideas and issues.  For more information click here.

Bio-Leadership Bristol & SW

Bio-Leadership Bristol & SW was a call out to connect innovators and change-makers interested in Bio-Leadership in Bristol and the South West. After a short evening session and a camp out that brought together a very amazing group of people, we will now continue to meet informally while connecting this group to the Bio-Leadership Practitioners Programme, above. For more information about the original Bio-Leadership Bristol and SW programme click here.

Bio-Empathy & Bio-Leadership in Brazil

Over the past 2 years we have been asked to facilitate a ‘Bio-Empathy’ module for Amani Institute’s outstanding Social Innovation management programme. The Bio-Empathy module, which takes place over four days, helps participants deeply reconnect with Nature while asking questions about how to lead a different kind of change in the world. Bio-Empathy then evolved into a wider set of workshops and programmes in Brazil – first two ‘Leadership inspired by Nature’ workshops, and then a deeper ‘train the trainers’ programme which culminated in the co-design of a larger 3 day Bio-Leadership workshop in March 2017. We are delighted to say this work will continue – São Paulo is doing amazing things by working with Bio-Leadership ideas.

People and Partners

The Bio-Leadership Project is evolving quickly! Over the course of summer months we are shaping up programmes for later in 2017 and then a bigger European programme in 2018. This is at the same time as a core team working in the UK and a group of practitioners working in Brazil. Each of the programmes will work with different partners, peer mentors, advisors and guest teachers. We’ll update on all of this very soon!
