Leadership on the edge of Living Systems: Research & Learning Programme

A living research process, hosted by Giles Hutchins and Andres Roberts

Leadership on the edge of Living Systems aims to help organisations break boundaries by working as better connected and more adaptive Living Systems.

Through the work we will interview leaders who are operating on ‘the edge’ of living systems – making breakthroughs or trying to carve new ways of working into more traditional systems. Here we will try to understand different visions, strategies and dynamics of change, influencing positive progress and innovation. The work will also include interviews with thought leaders and practitioners who represent Living Systems approaches, before bringing the two strands together to connect organisational leaders with Living Systems ‘pioneers’. Throughout the process we will work with ideas and methods inspired by Nature and Living Systems.

Throughout this process we want to work with qualities inspired by Living Systems. We want to trust principles of emergence, mutual attraction and deep purpose. We feel that a new way of working wants to emerge in the world, and this work is about connecting committed people to help us transform systems together. Framing questions for anyone involved might be: ‘How does this support you?’, and ‘How might your story support wider change?’.

About

Phase 1 of this programme will consist of interviews with organisations and thought leaders working on the edges of bringing living systems approaches into their work.

Phase 2 will consists of events through which to explore the topics and ideas that emerge through the process.

Phase 3 will consist of sharing findings and recommendations to inspire Living Systems leadership approaches further afield.

Aims

  • To provide a nourishing space for shared learning to apply practically in work and organisations
  • To connect and grow a community of pioneering people and organisations
  • To help the transition towards more agile and purposeful future-fit organisations
  • To help a collective contribution towards a more balanced and wholesome society and planet
